Based on the play Aavjo Vhala Fari Malishu, Waqt: The Race Against Time is loaded with family drama and comedy. It has its comic element in the form of the bumbling servant Laxman, who misunderstands the most simple requests made of him in a style reminiscent of certain Shakespearian comic relief characters. The drama comes from the conflict between the father Ishwarchand and son Aditya. More comes from knowing critical facts that other characters don't know which would completely change their perspectives.

The movie had an average box office run at home in India, but an outstanding run overseas. It was one of the top grossers of 2005 in Bollywood, laced with great performances by the two main stars and excellent direction. [1]
